Everything You Want To Know About The Harley-Davidson® LiveWire™
At the start of this year, Harley-Davidson® released their electric motorcycle – LiveWire™ – at CES in Las Vegas. This bike has been a labor of love for Harley engineers, who have been working on this platform for some years now, all the while taking in rider feedback, design evolution, and tech advancement. With this launch, H-D also announced a full lineup of electric two-wheelers designed to make them “the leader in the electrification of mobility.” Needless to say, the LiveWire™ has been causing quite a stir since its release, so we’ve compiled a list of what you need to know about this bike.
Can’t wait to get your hands on one? Come on down to Myers-Duren Harley-Davidson in Tulsa, OK, to make the LiveWire™ your own. We’ll be happy to explain the mechanisms in detail and answer any questions you may have. We proudly serve everyone in the state of Oklahoma.
Most electric bikes need dedicated charging stations to recharge their batteries. While the LiveWire™ too can be recharged at Level 3 DC Fast Charge stations, it also has the option of connecting to any standard household power cord to get a full charge overnight.
The H-D™ Connect service lets you connect your smartphone to your LiveWire™. It’s the first American bike to offer this high-caliber tech option. By installing the Harley-Davidson® app, you can check bike vitals like location and battery status and get security alerts if it is moved, bumped into or tampered with in any way.
The LiveWire™ is equipped with an electronic chassis control system that modulates the rear wheel torque by managing a cornering-enhanced anti-lock braking system, traction control system and drag-torque slip control system. This gives the rider more control and confidence on the road.
The Harley® LiveWire™ is focused on ease-of-use, which means no clutch and no shifting on this lightweight bike. Their goal is to eventually eliminate the need for a motorcycle license to operate these machines, but you should check your local laws on operating electric motorcycles. The battery packs are removable and easy to carry, which reduces riders’ worries about parking in unsafe areas.
The LiveWire™ is capable of going from 0 to 60 in under 3.5 seconds. It has a permanent magnet electric motor that instantly produces 100 percent of its rated torque the moment the throttle is twisted. The motor is located below the battery to lower the center of gravity and improve handling.
This new Harley® motorcycle has a 4.3 inch, full color, H-D® display panel. It displays data like speed, battery status, and range but can be customized to display additional information, like turn-by-turn navigation, music, alerts and more.
Since the LiveWire™ is a Harley® bike, they have of course focused on the looks while keeping the aluminum frame lightweight and rigid. Not only is the new bike grabbing riders’ attention, but it is also creating a buzz about what lies ahead for the iconic Harley-Davidson® brand. Come and be a part of this momentous step in motorcycle history at Myers-Duren Harley-Davidson. We also welcome all bike enthusiasts coming from the cities of Broken Arrow, Jenks, Bixby and Glenpool, OK.
